Sheesh.All around best answer to maximize stability. (This was originally done years ago and no thought was given to cable lengths at that time) I didn't mention it before because I thought it was irrelevant, however now maintenance tells me that run is definitely over 300 ft, so my trust in the existing cable is shot and I went back to the drawing board on network layout for that area. There was already an existing cable run along the same path this spliced cable would go, but is for a different purpose. I'll introduce a switch, but in a slightly different spot that will better serve that warehouse.
Okay, I had another talk with maintenance, and we came up with a good plan based on the recommendations here.
